It is believed the first pimiento-stuffed olives were created in the Provence region of France back in the 1700s. This classic olive pairing is still revered today for its large size, firm texture and mild salty flavour that is so beautifully counterbalanced by the aromatic sweetness of the pimiento pepper stuffed inside. Usually the higher-end olives are meticulously hand-stuffed, like in the old days, rather than by machine.
My daughter, Olivia, is addicted to the firm but juicy, slightly salty green olives! And is it even a surprise? Its Latin roots reveal that the name Olivia signifies "olive tree". For centuries, the olive tree has been adored for both its splendour and its fruits. There are many meanings of the olive tree. The olives are made with one shade of polymer clay brushed with a mica pearl pigment. Then, each cured olive is varnished and generously gilded in 24 karat pure gold leaf, which we source from Kanazawa Japan. The leaves are made by combining two shades of metallic glitter clay with one solid shade of clay, creating a beautiful pattern. Each leaf is meticulously hand cut and hand scored, then varnished once cured.
All three pendants are removeable. You can wear the necklace with just the olive by itself, one leaf with no vegan pearls, only leaves with no olive, or all three pendants together...depending on your mood and outfit!
